Cloudy Day Holos!

Hello lovely readers!

For today's post, I have two beautiful holographic polishes I received in a swap with a lovely girl from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I painted my nails Saturday night, enjoyed them thoroughly in the sunlight on Sunday... and have been stuck with cloudy, stormy skies since!! I forgot to snap pictures on Sunday, besides one blurred one at my boyfriend's soccer game.. so the pictures I will be sharing were taken at work under semi clouded light from the window/fluorescent lights overhead.

Without further ado..

Hits- Atena from the No Olimpo collection & Impala- Na Mira 3D.
(and some lunch goodies in the background hehe)

I was so excited to try these two out together, and they did NOT disappoint! Let me show the pictures before I bore you with more words!

This photo is one of the indoors ones. Even inside- look at that sparkle!

A little more cloudy, but you can see the Impala glittery details so much better! This Impala is absolutely incredible. It shifts between a rainbow of colors- yellows, greens, blues, oranges, EVERYTHING!!, but a fuchsia pink is one that seems to stand out above the rest to me.

Because of the pink standing out, even just in looking at the bottle-is why I decided to pair it with Hits Atena.

This was the blurred picture I snapped at my boyfriend's soccer game. It was early in the morning, maybe 9am, and the sun was beating on me the entire morning. Half of the game was spent just ogling my own nails and watching them sparkle in the sunlight. The other half I was cheering for the Pig Slayers to defeat Shake N' Bake... (they didn't though :( Next time!)

Overall, with both of these polishes, application was a breeze. Hits has wider brushes than any polish I've used before- which made application quick and easy. I could have gotten away with just one coat, really, but went with two just because. Impala on the other hand..

This is a (semi-shaded) photo of 1 coat Impala Na Mira 3D. Still very sparkly! But also so very sheer. I guess when I looked at the bottle, and saw how dark yet colorful the polish was, I expected it to go on more opaque. I had to use 3 coats to get the coverage I wanted. Not a terrible thing, but next time I may use a black or dark polish underneath.

Impala's brush was a bit smaller, almost similar to the size of an Essie polish brush. Impala dried very quickly, and as for how it felt without a topcoat-- like a very fine sandpaper. Not very gritty at all-- it almost reminded me of a gentle side of a nail file.

One coat of Seche Vite on top of all nails, and they were smooth and still just as shiny and sparkly as before!

So, what do you think of my combination of Holos?  I must admit these have quickly jumped to the top of my most loved type of polishes. What do you think of Holo polishes? Do you have to have them, or are they just another polish to you?

~*M.I.A.*~

HELLLLOOOOO Beautiful readers!!

I am sorry that I have been missing this past week. I have been very busy at work and at home with many other projects, but I have not forgotten you! I have been trying to come up with a schedule of sorts to stick with..

I am wondering what types of posts everyone likes to see! I think I may be able to commit to a bi-weekly posting here .. we'll see how that works out! :)

I have grand plans this weekend for a new mani... I received my first holos from a large swap with a girl that lives in Brazil.

OOOOOHHHH!!! AAAAHHHH!!

That's right... 5 Jades, and 5 HITS from the Olimpia collection. I am so in love with these, without having worn them yet, I have already signed up with a group buy for more Jades :)

TOP: (L-R) Seducao Rosa, Deja Vu, Energy, Hypnose, and Delirio Rosa
BOTTOM: (L-R) Afrodite, Hestia, Poseidon, Atena, Hera

The lovely lady I swapped with was kind enough to surprise me with a few extras as well!

A Dote, an Impala, and a HITS from another collection. I am not a gold person really, so that one may be saved for a random goodie extra, or giveaway.

These pictures do not do these polishes ANY justice, I promise you.

Sorry for the quickie, but I hope some update is better than no update ;)

xoxo

Pretty & Polished Sand Art & Zoya Lo!

For my first mani post... I present to you....

Pretty and Polished "Sand Art" and Zoya "Lo"

(*please forgive my photos, I have to use my Iphone or Webcam for now!*)

The photo above is taken in natural light indoors. 2 Coats of Zoya Lo, topped with 1 coat Seche Vite. I was worried about Lo, to be honest, as in the bottle it seems like it might be sheer or too pale. SO WRONG! Once coat was a bit streaky, but after the second I was in awe. (Excuse my messy cuticles!)

This photo above is the same thumb, but in direct sunlight. I love Lo even more in the sun. She is such a bright fun pink color! Definitely one of my favorites now.

Indirect light- indoors. This is 1 coat Pretty and Polished Sand Art over Zoya's Lo, topped with Seche Vite. I honestly cannot say enough great things about P&P. Application was a breeze- not too thin, not too thick or goopy.

This is in direct sunlight. I honestly can't stop looking at my nails! I had heard many great things about Sand Art, and I have been desperate to get my nubby hands on it. Luckily, thanks to a super nice lady on Facebook, I was able to get this and two others from her last pre-order. I just over the weekend placed an order for 3 more polishes from her vast collection. Hands down, one of my favorite Indie polish makers currently. I seem to be collecting P&P, and Dollish Polish. THEY'RE JUST SO PRETTY!!! I have yet to come across any problems with application or anything like that, with any of the polishes I own from either of those two makers.

If you'd like to check out more from Pretty and Polished, please go check out their Facebook page and Etsy store for updates on restocks and new colors!

Liebster Award!!

Thank You to Iron Clad Nails, & My Boyfriend Hates Makeup for nominating me for the Liebster award!
The Liebster Award is all about Nail polish bloggers with under 200 followers get recognized. This is a great honor to be nominated, and I would like to thank both of these blogs for giving me this opportunity!

Since two blogs nominated me within days of each other, I've chosen my favorite questions from each blogger!

Here are the Rules:

1. Each person tagged must post 11 things about themselves.
2. They must then answer the 11 questions the "tagger" has set for them.
3. They must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they have decided to tag.
4. They must then choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers and tag them in their post.
5. These lucky bloggers must then be told.
6. There's no tag back's.

11 Things About Me

1. I am born and raised in New England. Mostly in Massachusetts my entire life.
2. I am the only girl that does AutoCAD work for the company I work for. The other 3 girls do "office" style work.
3. I read like there's no tomorrow- can finish a book in hours/a few days if it really pulls me in.
4. I have 13 Tattoos, and only 2 piercings remaining (ears and septum)
5. My lucky number is 23. I even have it tattooed on me.
6. I can't eat too much candy, as my teeth are sensitive to sugars.
7. I have moved more times than how old I am! (I am 24. I have moved more than 24 times!! I've lost count.)
8. My boyfriend is 6'6"... I am 5'5".... I get a sore neck sometimes looking up to talk to him. NO LIE.
9. I drink Pepsi almost daily.
10. I have hazel eyes. When I was young I would get mad in gym class because we would all leave by groups of color, and I was always last with maybe one other child :(
11. I am OBSESSED with Mario and Zelda of Nintendo.

Here are the Answers to the 11 (Combined) Questions Given to Me:

1.How many polishes do you own?
Last time I counted.... roughly... 110? Ish?

2. Museums or Amusement Parks?
Amusement Parks all the way!!! I love roller coasters and thrill rides.

3. What is your favorite movie of all time?
Armageddon. So sappy. I know literally the whole movie by heart. I've had to replace 2 copies already in the course of owning it since it's release onto VHS/DVD.

4. What book are you reading right now?
Henry Rollins' "See a Grown Man Cry, Now Watch Him Die"

5. What kind of pets do you have?
None anymore at the moment :( My dad kept the cat when I moved in with my boyfriend over a year ago. Once we move next month we are getting some furbabies <3

6.How do you organize your stash?
I keep them together by brand only. I need a new holder so I haven't been tedious about organizing them completely.

7. Where is the weirdest place you've polished your nails?
Not weird really.. but just in a car.

8. What do your friends/family think of your hobby?
I don't think they fully understand how much I enjoy nail polish. I get teased lightly (all in good fun!) because I swamp their Facebook news feed with nail stuff. My boyfriend is happy as long as I don't spend millions of dollars ;)

9. When and Why did you start blogging?
I JUST opened my blog TODAY. But I started my Facebook page a few weeks ago! I started because I wanted a separate creative outlet to share my love for polish, without swamping my friends and family that had no interest in it.

10. What is your favorite wild animal?
Penguins and Tigers!

11. What is your favorite go-to beverage (non alcoholic?)
Chocolate milk, or Pepsi.

Questions for my Nominees.....

1. What other hobbies do you have?
2. What is your favorite brand of polish? (indie or drugstore)
3. What do you do for work?
4. Forgetting any price attached to it, if you could receive your #1 polish lemming- what would it be?
5. What's your favorite snack?
6. How often do you change your mani/pedi's?
7. If you could only own 6 polishes, ever, what would they be?
8. What is you favorite movie?
9. Do you collect anything else besides polish?
10. Where would your dream vacation take place?
11. What is your favorite animal?

Greetings!

Hello there new readers! Thank you for taking time out of your day to check out my new blog. This has started a bit later than I had planned, due to some unforeseen circumstances, but the bottom line is, HERE I AM! YAY!

I look forward to sharing pictures of mani's and polish, sharing thoughts on polishes, and generally having fun! I loved polish as a kid, then sort of stopped caring about it because I have been a nail-biter for as long as I can remember! All that changed about 8 months ago, Winter 2011-2012. A friend told me about Zoya nail polish... and well, long story short, it was all downhill from there! I have found love in cheap polishes, drugstore brands, Indie's, ... you name it! ;) With a growing passion for polish, and all things nail-related, I thought it best to finally make a creative outlet - this blog, and a Facebook page!-to share my love with other polish lovers, bloggers, etc,.. the ones who truly inspired me to keep this hobby/love/passion going. I am happy to say that outside of a few minor slip-ups, and growing out years worth of damage, my nails are not bitten, and are slowly becoming beautiful.

SOOOO....I thought it only appropriate to share a (little) about me for my first post!

I am 24 years old, and I truly am your typical "Tomboy" with a bit of girly flair. (I usually say I am a dash of glitter in an all-boy's club! hehe)
I lived with my father and brother most of my life. I have always had more guy-friends than girl-friends. I am the only girl that doesn't do "office" work at my job. -- I work with AutoCAD, doing HVAC & Plumbing engineering. I have a boyfriend of over 4 years- we are in the process of saving for our first home.

I won't go into too much more detail actually, as my next post is FILLED with questions for me to answer.

So with that, I bid you a WONDERFUL day, and hope to keep you coming back for more! :)

Please check out my Facebook page- at 100 Likes I am having a GiveAway with 2 prizes. That's right, TWO PRIZES! How fantastic is that?! :)
